Arqiva

Arqiva SMLArqiva provides much of the infrastructure behind television, radio, satellite and wireless communications in the UK, and operates a network of 8000 active transmission sites.

The company has its roots in the earliest broadcast network, but its present incarnation was formed with National Grid Wireless combined with Arqiva in September 2008, and it is at the forefront of network solutions and services in the digital world. It provides services to broadcasters including the BBC, ITV and Sky, as well as telco providers including the five mobile network operators and the emergency services.

Flomatik has provided logistical and engineering services in a number of areas to Arqiva, but the highlight is the Digital Switch Over; the process of migrating all of the UK television and radio broadcast from analogue to digital. The company estimates that this will require a total of 1200 man-years of work to deliver an investment of £700million. As well as specialist technical skills it requires absolute commitment, as the roll out is being delivered to a strict timetable agreed with government.

Flomatik is proud to be part of this effort, providing engineering installation and commissioning services to assist with the replacement of more than 5000 old transmitters with a similar number of new pieces of digital equipment.
