It was with great sadness that we received the news that David Gray, one of Flomatik’s most experienced engineers, passed away suddenly and quietly last weekend. This news obviously came as a great shock and has been distressing for his family and for the many of us who knew, worked with and admired Dave so much. Having retired from Virgin a couple of years ago, after a long and distinguished career in the Cable industry, Dave was a highly respected and capable engineer and manager. In addition to his wealth of knowledge and experience, Dave was also renowned for his warm and friendly personality, and his straightforward style, which also served him well when he was representing staff, often taking on issues with the most senior of Virgin’s management, in his staff advocacy role.

We were very lucky that Dave chose to join Flomatik at retirement and he contributed widely, and to great effect, across a number of our key DTV and IP Reseg projects, most recently undertaking an IP Reseg Planning role, which we know he enjoyed immensely and delivered superbly. We take some small comfort in knowing that he really enjoyed working with us at Flomatik and at a recent company social event where he was in his usual fine fettle, he told us that it was “the best job I’ve ever had”.

He was truly unique, dear to many and will be very sadly missed.

Flomatik, along with many of David’s friends and colleagues, have made a donation in his memory to the charity selected by his wife Julie: the Weston Park Hospital Cancer charity (Weston Park is where David’s brother received treatment).
