Flomatik engineers receive PIA accreditation

PIA accreditation training

Our PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) team continues to grow – two more of our team have passed accreditation to assess Openreach’s network for PIA surveys.

Bryan Hughes, Flomatik Planning Supervisor, along with the Flomatik Field Engineer completed the training course. They now hold the A8 (Pole climbing) A9 (Testing of Underground Plant) and module S7 (Installation of Duct and Cable) qualifications.

Responding to the demand for clients requiring PIA surveys, Flomatik continue to train engineers for accreditation, delivering the consistent quality in PIA surveys that Flomatik are so well known for.

Matt Harrison completes fundraiser 220-mile cycle ride

mattweb

Congratulations to Matt Harrison (pictured front) and fellow team member, Stewart Pert (2nd from right), for completing the Maggie Harrison 220-mile, 2-day memorial cycle ride from Sunderland to Brereton.

Thanks to generous donations, Matt smashed his £2000 target and raised a whopping £6,117.92! All funds go to Macmillan Cancer Support in honour of Matt’s mother’s passing 20 years ago. Matt organised the ride to raise money for Macmillan to give something back to those who selflessly helped his mother, and his family through some extremely tough years.

On completing the 2 day ride Matt said: “A belated update to let everyone know that we did it! We made it across the finish line around 6pm Sunday 1st October and were welcomed by several of my old school mates and mom’s old neighbours who’d laid on a bit of a welcome committee and food and drinks…a very welcome sight for us after 220-odd miles!

Thank you to everyone, of you that donated, large or small, your hard earned money to support this little ride for such a worthwhile cause. Your support throughout really made the difference and kept us all going over the weekend!”

Watch the video of the ride route here.

NextGen Broadband Migrations: How do you eat the data elephant?

RRR

The data explosion

Today’s Communications Service Providers (CSPs) are surrounded by competing forces. The exponential growth in multimedia content, the evolution of cloud computing and the impact of increasing mobile usage, brings huge opportunities, new entrants and enormous pressures. Migration can help with flattening revenues and rising consumer expectations, where traditional business models have been stretched to breaking.

Flomatik’s upcycling partnership with Saxon Hill Craft Barn

reels

At Flomatik we’re committed to the ‘Life Cycle Perspective’ of the materials we use and the impact our waste has on the environment.

So our Birmingham office were delighted to be able to upcycle our waste and support a local Lichfield charity. The Saxon Hill Craft Barn is a resource and recycling centre, providing work based learning opportunities for young people and adults with physical and learning difficulties. Maria Pallett, Store Manager, commented this week: “I would like to say thank you for the three pallets of cable reels, they were very well received and consequently we had a lucrative weekend at the Craft Barn.”

We’re aiming to become a regular supplier of items such as foam, plastic tubing and wire cables for future upcycling fundraising projects at the Barn while lowering our carbon footprint.

For further information about supplying community recycling initiatives please contact Bryan Hughes or Katherine Ellis in our Minworth office.
