With the UK’s network infrastructure evolving at pace – £7.66bn of private funding has already been pumped into UK gigabit altnets– there has never been a more crucial time for operators to streamline their builds. Stewart Pert, Account Director, spoke to Trenches Law about how Flomatik has enjoyed being a part of many network builds over the past few years and takes great pride in the fact that we can help providers navigate and mitigate the complexities commonly encountered.
Quality planning is about how investing time, knowledge and effort right at the planning stage – and remaining agile to readjustments as you go – means you’ll be better equipped to reduce the impact at the build stage.
So, whether you have only a small knowledge gap to fill, or are coming into the market relatively fresh faced and eager to pick up as many tips as possible, here are eight key factors to consider.

In a joint collaboration with Teleste, Flomatik Network Services has custom built an FTTH demonstration, training and meeting facility in our Minworth office.
Showcasing Flomatik’s Consult, Design, Build and Operate services, we’re thrilled with our new space and would like to welcome our customers and partners to come and experience the room. The Demo Room displays optical passive components from Teleste and some of the UK’s leading suppliers, Emtelle, HellermannTyton, and Corning. Visitors have access to every element of an FTTH network build including a duct and pole sample of PIA.
Stewart Pert, Account Director said “The initial idea for the Demo Room was to show the tangible build of an FTTH network from a product point of view, but also how each fit together from the duct and street cabinet, right into the home router. We’re really pleased with the finished result. It’s already helped bring to life the fibre infrastructure that ambitious Altnets are looking to plan and build. They’re able to see what’s involved and what passives they need to consider from the outset.”
Contact Stewart Pert to organise a visit and experience the Demo Room. We’d love to see you!
