Virgin Media was formed in March 2006 from the merger of NTL and Telewest, bringing together a cable network that operates across the UK. When the company merged with Virgin Mobile UK in July of that year it became the first ‘quadruple-play’ media company, offering television, internet, mobile phone and fixed-line telephone services.
With more than 5 million customers expecting ever-increasing sophistication and speed of services, renewal and maintenance of the network is a relentless and critical task. Flomatik provides broad-based support for many aspects of this upgrade process, including both ‘Business As Usual’ work and on the one-off projects, and this include a wide array of services, from Project Management to Installation and Commissioning.
Typically, Flomatik takes full responsibility for delivering a complete workstream, enabling Virgin to reduce risk and overheads, and to focus on the holistic delivery, including projects undertaken by them for key customers, such as Everything Everywhere and Talk Talk Technologies. However, we do provide a significant volume of resource augmentations too, where VM chooses to manage staff directly and some of these assignments will mature to turnkey delivery.
In both the Core and Access areas of the network, Flomatik provides project management, coordination, survey, planning and design and engineering services as well as OSS and BSS knowledge and data analysis skills. We’ve also supported new technologies in the DTV area, and in Metro WiFi, as Virgin aims to offer more to its customers at home and on the move.
